Alex Kershaw tells the story of the USS Tang WWII submarine with great detail and insight, and this book is a must read for any lover of non-fiction, historical events.
When Hubby and I visited Pearl Harbor in 2007, we boarded the USS Bowfin submarine, and toured the entire sub. It is so tight, narrow, and cramped, which makes it is so hard for me to imagine serving on (being trapped seems more appropriate) one of these. Don't even mention the fact that you're hundreds of feet below the surface!
The crew of the USS Tang was so courageous, brave and successful, and I really feel it serves as a great reminder of who our true heroes should be, and to be thankful for their service.
